Paulshof and Lonehill residents left without water for five days amid ongoing leak investigation

A reported leak at the Alphen Close complex has led to a standoff between local authorities, residents, and the property owner, leaving the community desperate for answers.

Some residents of Paulshof and Lonehill have been without water for five days, following reports of a leaking pipe from the Alphen Close complex that emerged on November 30.

As frustration mounts, local authorities and residents are locked in a stand-off with the property owner, who has denied access to the leak site.

Ward Councillor Vino Reddy and a team from Joburg Water first attempted to address the issue on December 1 but were unable to locate the damaged pipe.

A follow-up visit on December 4 was fruitless as they were denied entry to the complex, leaving many residents increasingly concerned about the ongoing water shortage.

Today (December 5), a group of residents, along with Councillor Reddy, returned to the site in hopes of gaining access and resolving the issue. However, once again, the property owner remains uncooperative.

Fourways Review, is at the scene and tried to get an interview with the property owner, but so far, no statements have been made regarding the ongoing crisis.

Paulshof residents and ward 93 councillors Vino Reddy, are still on site since morning and waiting for the city officials.

Another concerned resident however stated that the homeowner was not restricting access, and had today allowed Joburg Water access.

Joburg Water was approached for comment, but none was forthcoming by the time of publication.

Fourways Review requested to speak to the owner of the property via the complex security guard. The owner declined, stating that she was in a meeting.

This is a developing story, more information will be provided once becomes available.
