Collision in Sunninghill leaves passengers injured

The accident was confirmed by JMPD.

It was traffic as usual until an accident in Sunninghill earlier on April 4, involving a Toyota Siyaya minibus taxi and a Range Rover.

The collision happened at 09:00 at the busy intersection of Maxwell Drive and Woodmead Drive as morning commuters rushed to their destinations.

Shown in a video motorists and residents responded promptly to help. They found several passengers from the minibus taxi suffering from various injuries.

Johannesburg Metro Police Department (JMPD) Spokesperson Superintendent Xolani Fihla reported that JMPD officers responded to the incident.

β€œAt this stage, the cause of the collision remains undetermined. Initial reports indicate that the minibus taxi was on a route from Alexandra to Olivenhoutbosch when the accident occurred.”

β€œ10 occupants of the minibus taxi, including the driver, sustained injuries ranging from minor to serious. All injured parties were transported to Charlotte Maxeke Hospital for medical attention. The driver and passenger of the Range Rover did not sustain any injuries.”

Fihla reported that a case of reckless and negligent driving will be opened at the Sandton South African Police Service (SAPS) for further investigation. More information will be provided once it becomes available.
