One month to go until Swingin’ Las Vegas 2025 dazzles Johannesburg

Joburg prepares to roll the dice on another unforgettable season of swing, sparkle and sensational vocals

The countdown has officially begun.
In just a month, the glittering spectacle of Swingin’ Las Vegas 2025 will light up The Teatro at Montecasino, bringing the razzle-dazzle of Sin City straight to Johannesburg’s doorstep.
Running for eight shows only from May 16 to 25, this year’s edition promises a fresh dose of glamour and groove, fronted by the powerhouse Johannesburg Big Band under the baton of Adam Howard, and featuring four of South Africa’s most beloved vocalists — Craig Urbani, Nadine, Timothy Moloi, and Harry Sideropoulos.

Following the roaring success of last year’s debut, Swingin’ Las Vegas returns with a brand-new setlist, spanning musical legends from Frank Sinatra and Ella Fitzgerald to Lady Gaga, Céline Dion, Lionel Richie and Oasis. With everything from classic Rat Pack charm to pop favourites reimagined in big band style, the show promises something for every generation.

The artists recently kicked off rehearsals with renowned vocal director Malie Kelly, giving audiences a sneak peek into what will undoubtedly be a show-stopping experience.

Urbani, returning for another swing around the Vegas block, is most excited to step into the shoes of Sky Masterson for Luck Be a Lady and can’t wait to duet with Nadine on a goosebump-worthy rendition of Shallow. “Last year’s show blew me away,” he shared. “This year, with this band and this cast, it’s going to be unforgettable.”

Nadine, new to the Swingin’ stage, is eager to perform Unforgettable alongside Moloi and bring the house down with her powerful take on Céline Dion’s It’s All Coming Back to Me Now. “This show has everything — sparkle, style, and sheer talent,” she said.

For Moloi, it’s all about Sway, a number he’ll perform with the full cast. “Audiences can expect to be taken on a musical ride through time,” he said, praising the diversity of the setlist and the joy of reuniting with such a passionate team.

Meanwhile, Sideropoulos promises ‘more sequins, more sparkle, and more outrageous fun.’ A fan of vintage Vegas style, he’s particularly excited about duets such as I’m Just a Gigolo with Urbani and a showstopping group finale that he’s keeping tightly under wraps.

A Big Band bonanza

Musical director and producer Adam Howard has once again masterminded a setlist that charts the evolution of Vegas, from swing royalty to pop icons. “We start with a list of around 70 songs and shape the show from there,” he said. “This year, audiences can expect to hear everything from The Lady is a Tramp to Shallow.

He promises not only a completely new musical journey but also ‘world-class staging and lighting, ensuring the production shines as brightly as the Strip itself.
