Motorists in Broadacres can finally breathe a sigh of relief as Johannesburg Roads Agency (JRA) has completed the much-needed resurfacing of the troublesome intersection at Richard and Bushwillow roads.
Ward 94 councillor David Foley confirmed, on July 4, that the resurfacing around the traffic circle has been completed, making a huge difference for daily commuters who have endured months of potholes, damage, and delays.

“JRA have completed the circle now. In fact, the potholes have been filled as well, which was one of the main concerns at the entrance of the circle. The resurfacing all around the traffic circle has now been completed, making a huge difference so that people can traverse the circle area a lot better.”

The repairs come after repeated calls from Foley and residents, who flagged the intersection as a danger zone, especially after heavy rains and suspected underground pipe leaks worsened the potholes and surface damage.

Earlier this week, Foley confirmed that Johannesburg Water had fixed the leaks, allowing JRA to proceed with the long-awaited tar resurfacing.

A second layer of tar was applied earlier this month, and now the resurfacing of the circle itself is complete. “There is still quite a bit of work that needs to be done, like resetting the kerbing and all that kind of stuff, but that’ll be done in due course.”

For now, residents can enjoy a much smoother drive through the intersection as final touches are prepared in the coming weeks.
