According to Brigadier Arikum Veeshani, the station commander, at about 22:30, members attached to sector policing in Douglasdale received a complaint of kidnapping.

“Upon arriving at the victim’s home, they were informed that the victim had been assaulted and taken by a group of men.”
She said the officers immediately requested backup and began following up on information received. “Their efforts led them to the Pipeline informal settlement, where they found the victim in a shack.

“Five men were arrested on charges of kidnapping and attempted murder,” Veeshani said the victim was safely reunited with his family. She applauded the officers for their decisive action.

All five suspects are expected to appear in court on August 8.
