Local is truly lekker at Unity College concert

Learners at Unity College brought joy, pride, and plenty of South African flavour to the stage during a concert marking 35 years of creativity, culture, and community spirit.

Proving, once again, that its spirit of inclusion and celebration knows no bounds, Unity College hosted its 35th annual concert under the theme: Local is lekker.

The special needs school’s learners lit up the stage with proudly South African music and dance, complemented by striking props and colourful costumes. Each performance reflected weeks of practice and determination, with pupils beaming as they entertained their families and friends.

Michelle Kirk, of Unity College, said the concert was a true reflection of what the school stands for. “Unity spirit still shines bright after 35 years. Our learners showed us, once again, that with love, support, and encouragement, their talents can shine as brilliantly as any spotlight.”

Behind the scenes, staff poured in countless hours of passion and effort, ensuring every detail was perfect. The result was not just a concert, but a celebration of culture, creativity, and the school’s incredible journey spanning more than three decades.

As the curtain fell, it was clear that this milestone event was more than a performance; it was a reminder of the joy, resilience, and brilliance that defines Unity College.
