Crawford International Lonehill shows off tradition in vibrant Heritage Day celebration
Dressed in their traditional attire, learners and staff at Crawford International Lonehill turned the campus into a colourful celebration ahead of Heritage Day, honouring South Africa’s rich diversity.
Crawford International Lonehill got an early start on the Heritage Day celebrations this year, marking the occasion with a colourful and spirited programme on campus.
Although the official public holiday falls on September 24, the school brought its community together ahead of time, to honour South Africa’s diverse cultures, traditions, and shared identity.
“Heritage Day at Crawford Lonehill Pre-Primary was nothing short of extraordinary,” said Louise Clarke-Mathers, the school’s client experience officer.

“Under the wonderful guidance of Sibusiswe Zondi, our Zulu and drama teacher, the children spent weeks preparing for this very special occasion.
“The celebration reminded us of the true meaning of Heritage Day: The power of community, the beauty of embracing South Africa’s diversity, and the kindness that shines when we come together.
Our campus was filled with laughter, music, and pride, capturing the spirit of what makes our country so unique.”
Clarke-Mathers said that from singing along to the iconic tunes of Johnny Clegg, to moving in rhythm with traditional dances and raising their voices in songs across different languages, the day was a wonderful showcase of culture and unity.
“The highlights? Smiles on every face, a sense of togetherness, pride in our heritage, and the simple joy of celebrating as one big family.”
