Soccer skills shown at the German coaching clinic

Local Footballers showcase determination and camaraderie in an uplifting coaching clinic tournament.

It was a day to remember for the young footballers who participated in the German Coaching Clinic tournament on February 2.

The tournament, hosted by soccer youth development organisation Football Union, featured teams from across the region which saw Diepsloot Sporting field two U12 teams and DZ Movers bringing their U12 and U14 squads.

Boys and girls showcased their talent on the field in matches that ran throughout the day, creating an electric atmosphere filled with excitement and camaraderie.

The day was not just about competition; it was also a fantastic learning opportunity. Throughout the tournament, children were taught essential skills and strategies that will help shape their future in the sport.

According to the senior coach of Diepsloot Sporting Prudent Sibindi, “The tournament provided a fantastic opportunity for our young players to learn valuable lessons, develop their skills, and make new friends. We’re incredibly proud of every one of them.

The clinic included a day of coaching from Football Union founder David Ribeiro and colleague Jack Kearns, alongside German World Cup winner Erik Durm. The sessions allowed young footballers to learn from the best, improve their skills, and create lasting memories.

Sibindi extended his gratitude to all involved. “A huge thank you to the organisers, coaches, and parents for making this event possible. We can’t wait for the next tournament.

“The Diepsloot Sporting teams walked away with valuable experience and a newfound love for the game, making it a day to remember for all involved.’
