JRA repairs Fourways potholes

The pothole, dug by JW to fix a pipe burst on Cedar and Uranium roads, has been repaired.

Johannesburg Roads Agency (JRA), acknowledging the presence of potholes on Cedar and Uranium roads, among other roads in the area, has successfully completed repairs on the intersection, and is still working on others.

According to Khaya Gqibitole, head of department for regional operations at JRA, the agency was aware of the defects on Uranium and Cedar roads, which were exacerbated by a pipe burst caused by Johannesburg Water (JW).

“We fully understand the importance of road safety for both residents and commuters,” said Gqibitole. “Addressing this issue was a priority for us. We recognise that potholes can cause damage to vehicles and pose a risk to road users.”

Gqibitole explained that repairs were completed, with JRA teams working to address all defects on Uranium Road, including pothole repairs and reinstatement work at the corner of Uranium and Cedar roads.

JRA had awaited the necessary wayleave number from JW before proceeding with the required works, which caused delays in the repair process.

However, once the necessary approvals were obtained, JRA teams worked diligently to complete the repairs.

Residents expressed concerns about the safety risks posed by the potholes, but Gqibitole assured that JRA was committed to completing the repairs as quickly as possible, while ensuring that safety standards were met.
