70 Arrests in Fourways during joint police operation
From illegal trading to house robberies, Douglasdale police and JMPD’s coordinated efforts in Fourways led to dozens of arrests and enforcement actions this week.
In a joint operation at Builders Warehouse in Fourways, the South African Police Service (SAPS) in Douglasdale, in collaboration with the Johannesburg Metropolitan Police Department (JMPD) and private security companies, conducted a major cleanup targeting illegal trading and crime in the area.
Douglasdale police station commander Brigadier Veeshani Arikum said during the operation, 47 undocumented individuals were arrested, while goods being sold illegally were confiscated.

“Motorbikes used in unlawful activities were also seized, and fines were issued to offenders.”
She said beyond the warehouse operation, police continued its enforcement efforts across the area throughout the week, resulting in arrests for a variety of offences, including house robbery, possession of stolen goods, and drinking in public.
“In total, 70 suspects were taken into custody over the course of the week.”

All arrested individuals have appeared in court, and the police emphasised that their ongoing operations aim to restore safety and order in public spaces and commercial hubs.
