Festive season awareness campaign continues across Douglasdale precinct

The Douglasdale SAPS, CPF, JMPD, and local security partners continue to spread festive safety awareness across the community, reminding residents to stay alert, stay safe, and stay connected this holiday season.

The festive season awareness campaign continues across the Douglasdale precinct, with the Douglasdale Community Policing Forum (CPF), Douglasdale SAPS, JMPD, and security partners continuing their joint efforts to promote safety and vigilance during this busy time of year.

On October 29, the campaign team visited Cedar Square Shopping Centre, where Douglasdale CPF chairperson Lizzy Mabena joined Warrant Officer Nicholas Mokwena, along with Douglasdale officers and JMPD Region E officer Tshidi Dlamini, and Fidelity Centre security manager Johannes Kgoromi for another successful activation.

Teams were stationed throughout the centre, engaging with motorists, shoppers, and delivery drivers, and distributing informative brochures on key safety topics such as:

  • Holiday safety tips
  • Cellphone snatching
  • Cybercrime awareness
  • ATM scams
  • Theft out of motor vehicles
  • Gender-Based Violence (GBV) awareness
  • Road safety for drivers and pedestrians
  • Emergency contact details
  • How to join the CPF and participate in community safety initiatives

Douglasdale CPF public relations officer, Freda Boiles, explained that he initiative aims to create stronger partnerships between the public and law enforcement, ensuring a safer, more vigilant community throughout the festive period.

Boiles also expressed gratitude for the positive public response and teamwork behind the campaign.
