Douglasdale CPF shines light on community safety

Six new solar lights installed outside the Douglasdale Police Station highlight the CPF’s ongoing commitment to safety, visibility, and community partnership.

The Douglasdale Community Policing Forum (CPF) has once again demonstrated its unwavering commitment to improving safety in the neighbourhood.

On November 13, a CPF member spent the morning installing six new solar-powered lights in the public car park opposite the Douglasdale Police Station.

The volunteer not only supplied the time and effort to erect the poles but also fitted the solar lights himself, ensuring the once-dimly lit area is now safer and more welcoming to residents and visitors.

The improved lighting is expected to deter criminal activity and provide much-needed visibility for those using the station, especially during evening hours.

CPF public relations officer Freda Boiles applauded the initiative, saying, “This is the kind of dedication that keeps our community strong. Our members consistently go above and beyond to ensure residents feel safe, supported, and seen. Every contribution, big or small, helps us build a better, safer Douglasdale.”

Boiles said the lighting installation is just one of many proactive efforts led by CPF members, who work tirelessly alongside police and residents to strengthen local safety structures.

“From community engagement to daily operational support, the CPF’s commitment continues to illuminate both the neighbourhood and the spirit of active citizenship.”

She extended heartfelt gratitude to all CPF members for their ongoing hard work, collaboration, and passion for making Douglasdale a safer place for everyone.
