Make sure the bartender pours your drink in front of you.

Some venues provide kits to check if a drink has been tampered with; use them if available.

  • Stay with a group

There’s safety in numbers, so stick together.

  • Report suspicious activity

Inform venue staff or security immediately if you notice anything unusual.

SAPS also emphasises that if anyone finds themselves in a compromising situation or falls victim to a crime, they should contact their nearest police station.

Criminal activity can also be reported via the Crime Stop Line at 08600 10111, or anonymously through the MySAPS App, available on any smartphone.

The Douglasdale CPF units reiterated, “Stay vigilant, look out for one another, and take simple precautions.

Enjoy your festivities safely; your awareness can prevent you from becoming a victim.”
