Diepsloot star turns hardship into Afrobeat gold with new hit

After grinding through real hardships, empty pockets, studio struggles, and stepping away from the music scene, Elia 'Foks' Rasekoka is now living 'Nako Yaka', the season where everything he sowed is finally growing.

Diepsloot’s own Elia ‘Foks’ Rasekoka (29) is no stranger to the grind.

After years of hustle, setbacks, and taking a necessary break from the music scene, the versatile artist is finally seeing the pieces fall into place, and his latest release is proof that perseverance pays off.

On March 16, Foks dropped his new Afrobeat banger, Nako Yaka, featuring Ernest Malesela, who goes by the stage name Ernipro Empire, and the streets are already feeling it.

The song, inspired by the Nigerian Afrobeat wave, marks a bold new chapter for an artist who has already dabbled in amapiano, hip-hop, gospel rap, and Afro-soul.

According to Foks, this track is his statement to show off his versatility and direct reflection of his personal comeback. “People don’t understand.

I’ve been through some hardships. Not having income while trying to record music in the studio was tough. You’ve got to pay for studio time, but when nothing is generating money on the side, it becomes a real struggle.”

2026 has been sweet so far. With new income streams opening up and things finally aligning, studio sessions are no longer a headache.

The song’s title, Nako Yaka, roughly translating to ‘I’m already reaping what I’ve sown’, perfectly captures this moment. Foks said that after stepping away from the industry for a while, he’s now back with full force.

Bookings are rolling in, radio airplay is picking up, and artists are reaching out to collaborate.

The reception for the now hit, has been his strongest yet across all genres he’s touched. “The fans are showing up in a big way. This song is proving to be the key that’s pulling up some real breakthrough for me.”

He said he linked up with established Limpopo artist Ernipro Empire from Tzaneen, who has worked with heavyweights of the music scene.

Foks admitted he doesn’t sing much, so he needed someone who could add that melodic hook and energy to the beat. “I saw his progress on TikTok, slid into his DMs, and he responded positively. He said he had been following my work, so collaborating wasn’t an issue.

We spoke like artists, sorted out the business side, and the rest is history.”

Getting a feature like that wasn’t cheap or easy which makes it even sweeter for Foks. It’s another sign that his moment is here.

He’s set to perform at a free birthday celebration show in Diepsloot at Momes Place on April 26. As the opener for the birthday guy, Foks promises to give the crowd a full taste of who he is as an artist. “It’s going to be all about Nako yaka.”

The song is available on Youtube and all the popular music streaming platforms.
