Cedar Road safety concerns still await action
Nearly four months after authorities visited the dangerous Cedar Road school intersection following repeated crashes and safety complaints, residents say no visible intervention has been implemented.
It has been almost four months since the Gauteng department of roads and transport (GDRT) confirmed that traffic engineers had visited the Cedar Road intersection near Steyn City School to conduct a traffic assessment, following repeated accidents and growing safety concerns.
Fourways Review first brought the issue to GDRT on February 4. We recently sent a follow up to Tebogo Ntebe, the directorate: Communications and media liaison of the department, on May 25. The department confirmed that traffic engineering services officials had visited the site and indicated that further information would be provided following assessments.

Ward 96 councillor Rufus Maswazi also confirmed that he hasn’t received any communication from the department after the assessment.

Residents say there have been no visible improvements at the busy school intersection, which continues to experience congestion, reckless driving, and traffic violations during peak hours.

No further update has been received from the department, despite the follow-ups. More information will be provided once it becomes available.
