Half a year’s wait for Tiati Road stormwater drain repairs frustrates Sunninghill residents

Residents are calling for answers after a damaged stormwater drain on Tiati Road has reportedly remained unrepaired for more than six months.

Community members in Sunninghill are seeking answers over a damaged stormwater drain on Tiati Road that has reportedly remained unrepaired for more than six months.

According to the Sunninghill Community Ratepayers Association (SCRA), the damage stems from work undertaken in the area, leaving a section of infrastructure awaiting reinstatement while residents continue to face the inconvenience and safety concerns associated with the open excavation.

Tracy Kensey, SCRA suburb manager, explained that several infrastructure failures occurred in quick succession along the road.

“We had three bursts in very quick succession along here. The others were reinstated, but this one, at Lingaret and Tana roads, JRA said they are waiting for the parts to be able to reinstate this section.”

Kensey said the damaged section supports a concrete base structure, making repairs more complex than those carried out at the other sites.
