Busy week as Douglasdale Police Station battles crime

The Douglasdale Police Station commander Brigadier Veeshani Arikum praised officers for a productive week that resulted in multiple arrests and key crime-fighting successes.

The South African Police Service in Douglasdale has reported a series of policing successes over the past week, including the rescue of two kidnapping victims, the seizure of counterfeit money worth more than R1m, and several arrests for serious crimes.

In the early hours of July 3, police officers on patrol stopped a suspicious vehicle. “Further investigation revealed that two people inside the vehicle had allegedly been kidnapped and were being held against their will.”

The victims had reportedly been robbed at their home in Rustenburg before being abducted. Three suspects were arrested in connection with the case and have since appeared in the Rustenburg Magistrate’s Court. “The victims were not injured,” said Arikum.

Later the same day, Douglasdale police arrested two foreign nationals after discovering counterfeit currency valued at more than R1m in both US dollars and South African rands. “Police also found the suspects in possession of fraudulent passports. The pair appeared in the Randburg Magistrate’s Court on charges related to counterfeit money and fraudulent documentation.”
