Proteas skipper Temba Bavuma connects with supporters at Fourways Mall
Proteas captain Temba Bavuma met excited supporters at Fourways Mall’s Skechers Cricket store, where fans received exclusive gifts, shared personal stories and celebrated the cricket star’s impact both on and off the field.
Meeting Proteas captain Temba Bavuma was a dream come true for many cricket fans as he made a special appearance at the Skechers Cricket store in Fourways Mall, on August 1, where supporters gathered for an exclusive meet-and-greet.
The event drew scores of fans eager to meet the South African cricket star, with the first people through the doors receiving special gifts before joining the queue for photographs, autographs and a chance to chat with Bavuma.

As the first black South African cricketer to be appointed captain of the Proteas men’s team, Bavuma continues to inspire many both on and off the field.
While his achievements in cricket have earned him national recognition, he said creating opportunities for others through his foundation remains one of his greatest passions.
“My foundation has given us the opportunity to scale up a lot of the work that we are doing, provide resources as well as opportunities to those that are in need,” said Bavuma.
Among those in attendance was Msizi Moyo, whose relationship with Bavuma goes back years. Although he admits he is not a passionate cricket follower, Moyo said he attended because of the personal impact Bavuma and his family have had on his life.
“I’m very happy. It’s always a pleasure being part of the Bavuma family. The foundation has helped me through a lot,” said Moyo.

He explained that he first met Bavuma through school, where Bavuma’s wife was one of his teachers. What started as a school connection grew into a lasting relationship, with the family supporting him through some of life’s biggest challenges.
“They helped me quite a lot during my varsity years. Every time I had an issue, I could actually talk to them and they would be there to assist me. We also had a couple of conversations during high school as well.”
Looking back at Bavuma’s journey from a young cricketer to leading the national side, Moyo said his success represents much more than sporting achievement.
“I’m very proud. It’s very nice to see a black man in these important spaces as well, opening paths for other young people to also achieve that success.”
