Double Trouble Leagues ends Season 14 on high note at Fourways Mall
Brothers of Destruction claimed the ENRG Elite title, families battled on court, and the community turned out in force as Double Trouble Leagues closed Season 14.
Double Trouble Leagues brought Season 14 to a memorable close on September 12 at Match Padel Fourways Mall.
A total of 15 finals, packed sidelines, and a strong community atmosphere defined the day. “The overwhelming feedback from those who attended was that this was one of DTL’s best finals days yet, if not the best,” said Stephen Castle, director of Double Trouble Leagues.

The morning opened with the ENRG Elite Men’s semi-finals. Brothers Dillan and Donovan Parau, playing as Brothers of Destruction, defeated F-IT’s Brandon Huntley and Matt Arnold to reach the final. Defending champions Somethin’ Saucy overcame Salt & Pepper in the other semi-final. In the final, the Parau brothers claimed the ENRG Elite Season 2 title and the R15 000 first prize, with Somethin’ Saucy taking the runners-up cheque of R5 000.
In open 1, Gordon Wilson and Dennis Sibiya, playing as Big D & G-Spot, defeated Armed & Dangerous to become Season 14 champions. The pair also collected the DTL Team Name of the Season award. Victorius Secret was crowned ladies 1 champion, while, across the divisions, several finals went the full three sets, underlining how competitive the league has become.
One of the day’s standout stories came in mixed 1, where the Huntley family found themselves on opposite sides of the net. Grandfather Derek Huntley, partnered by Deborah Vinny, faced his son Brandon Huntley and his granddaughter Caitlyn Huntley. Father and daughter ultimately took the title.

“The match captured what DTL has worked to build, serious competition on court combined with friendships, families and a community that extends well beyond the final score,” Castle said.
Off the court, partners added to the atmosphere. Nasty ENRG was present throughout the day, Los Locos Tequila offered tastings, and Forge Fitness hosted a popular Biggest Smash competition. A live DJ kept energy high while younger visitors enjoyed face painting, slime making and padel coaching. Support remained strong from the first match at 09:00 until the final games of the afternoon.
With Season 14 complete, attention now turns to Season 15, DTL’s final season of 2026. “DTL’s brand is built around community, competition, integrity, growth and excellence,” Castle said. “Season 14 finals day was a strong reflection of exactly that.”
