Illegal immigration unchecked

Monica writes:

It is a crime to enter any country illegally, South Africa should be no different.

The illegal immigrants are weighing heavily on our economy, and adding to the already large number of unemployed people, illegal mining, illegal metal theft and medical services.

The reason a country has laws regarding people entering is to protect its citizens from people with diseases and criminals. Currently we are not being protected against this, as people freely enter without being checked. It is the government’s duty to protect the legal citizens of the country.

It is time that raids are carried out and the illegal immigrants deported, without delay. There should not be an informal settlement on Witkoppen Road, this should have been dealt with years ago, it has been allowed to grow.
