Club players meet Liverpool professionals
DAINFERN - THE Dainfern Lions Football Club were invited by the Liverpool Supporters Club Gauteng, to attend a special Liverpool International Academy training session day hosted by Discovery Vitality at Discover Soccer Park Illovo on 21 October.
A group of nine professional coaches from the Liverpool International Academy in Liverpool otherwise known as Liverpool Soccer Schools showed the players what it felt like to be coached by professionals direct from Liverpool in the United Kingdom.
Chairman of the Dainfern Lions Football Club Nic Papas said, “The event was a huge success the kids and parents were thanking me for giving their children such a once in a lifetime opportunity.”
Papas is a member of the Liverpool F.C. Supporters Club Gauteng Committee and seized the opportunity when it was offered to him.
A total of 100 members from the Dainfern Lions Football Club attended the training session day. They took part in team and paired events that made the coaching classes fun whilst the kids were taking in new skills for two hours.
At the end of the session each participant was presented with an official certificate of attendance signed by Ian Rush.
“I would like to thank the Liverpool Supporters Club Gauteng for offering the club an unforgettable opportunity and encouraged Liverpool FC supporters in Gauteng to join the supporter’s club,” Papas said.
Kids aged six and up interested in joining the Dainfern Lions Football Club for next year are welcomed to join. Registration open mid-January
