Mamelodi Warriors star Lucky ‘Hercules’ Magekha guns for Muay Thai world title glory

EFC fighter declares himself battle-ready for Eclipse Fight League clash but makes heartfelt appeal for sponsorship support ahead of June 6 showdown

Mamelodi’s own EFC star, Lucky ‘Hercules’ Magekha, is charging full steam ahead towards the biggest opportunity of his career as he prepares to challenge for the under 65kg Muay Thai world title.

The explosive Pretoria fighter will step into the ring on June 6 at the Eclipse Fight League’s Gladiators Cup 2 event, facing off against fellow South African warrior Thabang Raphehlelo in what promises to be a high-octane Muay Thai war.

Speaking to local supporters, Magekha left no doubt about his mindset. “I am ready,” he said with trademark confidence. “I have been putting in the work at the gym every single day. I know exactly what I need to do to bring that world title back to Mamelodi. This is my time.”

The Mamelodi Warriors product recently reminded everyone why they call him Hercules. After snapping a four-fight skid, he delivered a powerful second-round TKO victory over Johannes Rudolph at EFC 132, stopping his opponent with knees and punches at 2:02 of the round. The dominant performance showed the power, heart and resilience that have made him a fan favourite in Gauteng.

Now shifting to the stand-up discipline of Muay Thai, Magekha is embracing the challenge. “This fight against Thabang Raphehlelo is going to be a proper war,” he explained. “He’s a tough, experienced striker with a kickboxing and MMA background, but I have been sharpening my tools. My kicks, knees, elbows and clinch work are on another level right now. I’m bringing the fire from Mamelodi straight into that ring.”

Eclipse Fight League continues to grow as one of South Africa’s top platforms for Muay Thai and combat sports, giving local athletes like Magekha the stage to shine on home soil. The June 6 card is already creating huge excitement among fight fans across Pretoria and the rest of Gauteng.

Despite his fierce determination and recent momentum, the rising star is keeping it real with the community about the realities of elite preparation. “Training at this level for a world title fight takes serious resources,” Magekha said. “From top-quality nutrition and recovery tools to the best sparring partners and professional equipment, everything adds up. I am putting my whole heart and soul into this opportunity, but I still need sponsors to help cover the full costs of a proper professional fight camp. Any support from local businesses or individuals would mean the world to me and help me go all the way.”

He added with gratitude, “Mamelodi has always had my back. If anyone wants to come on this journey with me and invest in a fighter who is fighting for the whole community, please reach out through the Mamelodi Warriors gym or my social media pages. Together we can bring that world championship belt home.”

Magekha’s story, from the streets of Mamelodi to chasing global honours, continues to inspire young athletes across the region. A victory on June 6 could catapult him onto the international Muay Thai scene.
