Young golfer Jules Blondeau-Benite showed outstanding composure under pressure, bouncing back from a difficult start in the final round to finish strong and continue his rise as one of South Africa’s most promising junior talents.

Jules Blondeau-Benite, from Dainfern, delivered an outstanding performance at the U11 Interprovincial Team (IPT) Challenge.

Jules was representing Gauteng Team A, playing a key role in helping his team secure an excellent second place nationally, competing against the top junior golfers from across South Africa.

When asked how he was able to balance focusing on his own game, while also leading and supporting his teammates, he said he focused on his own game, but also tried to support his teammates.

“After my round, I went around the course to check on them and cheer them on. Being captain helped me step up and feel part of the team, and I enjoyed representing the team.”

The IPT is one of the most competitive junior golf events in the country, bringing together the best young players from each province.

Competing at this level provided Jules with valuable experience, and an opportunity to continue developing his game. “At the start of the final round, I made three bogeys in a row, so I had to change my mindset. I kept pushing, made some birdies, and finished strong, which helped me stay confident.”

Jules said playing alongside strong competitors pushed him to elevate his performance and continue improving. “I stayed focused on each shot and tried to stay calm. Winning the world championship before gave me confidence, so I reminded myself that I had already done it before, and could do it again.”

With his next tournament, the SA Kids Golf Junior Africa Challenge, coming up, Jules says he is gearing up for it.

“I’m really excited for the Junior Africa Challenge. My goal is to win, but I also want to play well, strike the ball better, and keep improving.”
