Junxion gymnasts bring honours home from Gauteng District Competition
Junxion Gymnastics celebrated a successful outing as 84 athletes earned silver or gold medals at the Gauteng District Competition in Eldoraigne.
Gymnasts from Junxion Gymnastics delivered a performance at the annual Gauteng Gymnastics District Competition for women’s artistic gymnastics (WAG) levels 1–3, held at the National Training Centre in Eldoraigne on May 29 and 30.
Michelle Johnson, of Junxion Gymnastics, said the club entered a total of 94 gymnasts in the competition, with 84 athletes earning either silver or gold medals, securing their junior Gauteng half colours for gymnastics.
Among the standout performers in WAG level 1, Giuliana Albino, placed third in the 7–8 years category, Emma Holt, secured first place in the 9–10 years division, and Ava Hynes, claimed third place in the same category.

Dintle Aphane earned first place in the 11–12 years section, while Charlotte Hammond took second place in the 13 years and older category.
In level 2 competition, Clara Lee achieved second place in the 7–8 years division, Anza Mafumo secured first place in the 9–10 years category, and McKenzie Ho finishing third in the same category.


Amber Crain and Sana Fakude added to the club’s success with second and third places, respectively, in the 11–12 years division.
Level 3 gymnasts also excelled, with Keneuoe Tsiki claiming first place in the 10–11 years category and Caitlyn Schonenberger taking top honours in the 12–13 years division.
Johnson said the club was extremely proud of the athletes’ achievements.
“We are incredibly proud of all 94 gymnasts who represented Junxion Gymnastics at the district competition.
To have 84 athletes achieve silver or gold medals and earn their junior Gauteng half colours is a testament to their dedication, perseverance, and hard work throughout the season.

“The results reflect the commitment shown by our gymnasts, coaches, and parents, who all play an important role in the success of our programme.”
She added that the club’s success was made possible through the support and commitment of its coaching staff and families.


“We are grateful to our dedicated coaches who continually go the extra mile for every child, our parents who support additional training and preparation, and our gymnasts who listened, worked hard, and performed to the best of their abilities on the day.
Seeing their confidence and growth on the competition floor was incredibly rewarding.”
With the district competition concluded, the club is already preparing for its next challenge at the Gauteng Festival, which will take place from June 12 to 16.
