SA Tattoo music festival at Montecasino
MAGALIESSIG - Even more boom at the fifth SA Tattoo festival
The annual SA Tattoo festival returns to Montecasino’s outdoor event area for six performances this September.
From 5 to 8 September, the finest local and international music talents will present South Africa’s biggest show.
Now in its fifth year, the SA Tattoo has grown in popularity – more than 90 000 people have enjoyed the multi-cultural and multi-national performances.
The organisers have also announced the return of the iconic Top Secret Drum Corps from Switzerland, who previously performed at the 2008 Tattoo.
“As the Top Secret Drum Corps have limited their performances to only a few select venues, we regard their participation at this year’s Tattoo as a major coup for South Africa”, said Simon Carter, executive producer of the event.
Featuring international acts from France and Switzerland, the show’s producers are particularly pleased that iconic local rock band, Just Jinjer, has been chosen as the headliner for the show.
Homegrown band drum majorettes, a local massed choir, the Johannesburg Youth Orchestra, the South African Police Services Tshwane Band, the National Ceremonial Guard Band and the Code Red Drum Corps will all feature.
The traditional French paratrooper army band, Musique des Parachutistes, will bring European flair to the Tattoo, while Taiwan’s Ten Drum Percussion Arts Group is also set to perform.
According to Carter, this is SA Tattoo’s “most sensational international line-up ever”.
The SA Tattoo is recognised as one of the world’s premier Tattoos and has been welcomed into the International Association of Tattoo Organisers (IATO), whose members have acknowledged and endorsed the SA Tattoo to be in keeping with the professionalism, ceremony and prestige that is expected by fellow IATO members the world over.
