Fifteen suspects netted in weekend operations

Katlehong police share their weekend successes.

Fifteen suspects were arrested by the Katlehong police during several weekend operations.

The operations were carried out, between December 6 and 8, by officers from the Katlehong SAPS Crime Prevention Unit, detectives from the Katlehong Police Station and members of the EMPD.

The accused were charged with various offences.

Charges included:

• Assault with the intent to cause grievous bodily harm: 4

• Common assault: 3

• Driving under the influence of alcohol: 3

• Dealing in drugs: 2

• Possession of drugs: 2

• Kidnapping: 1

All of the arrested suspects appeared in the Palm Ridge Magistrate’s Court, where their cases were postponed for a number of different reasons.

Katlehong SAPS acting station commander Col Phakama Gcaza was pleased with the arrests made over the weekend.

She urged motorists to drive with caution during the festive season, and not to drive under the influence of alcohol.
