Drugs worth over R36 000 discovered in Dukathole

EMPD officers on a special operation discovered drugs at a woman’s home.

Armed with the description of a person, who could give officials a lead about wanted criminals involved in crimes against humanity, members of the EMPD Specialised Task Team and EMPD K9 Unit, along with two state organs responsible for the well-being of victims, moved into Dukathole last Wednesday.

“The officers went to Selane Street at 1pm and the phrase being at the wrong place at the right time was proven,” said Kobeli Mokheseng, spokesperson for the EMPD.

“The officer knocked on the wrong door and it was opened by a 23-year-old woman who appeared nervous.

“Upon entering the house, the EMPD K9 Unit’s sniffer dogs found 331 Mandrax tablets and 66 knotted plastic bags of nyaope, with a street value of R36 400.”

The officers’ focus shifted and they put their primary mission on ice and arrested the female suspect.

She was taken to the Germiston Police Station where charges of possession of and dealing in illicit substances were levelled against her.

She is due to appear in the Germiston Magistrate’s Court soon.
