Girls take to the field in athletics
Great athletics action at the Germiston Stadium.
Germiston Stadium hosted the St Andrew’s School for Girls’ inter-house athletics, on Wednesday
(August 5).
“We held our inter-house swimming in February, tennis in March and the hockey and netball in June and May,” said JD Mostert, the school’s head of athletics.
“We plan to host the squash inter-house in September.
“We organise these events early in the year for talent identification.”
The students were dressed up in their different house colours and cheering for each other.
“We have four houses, Athlone is green, Farrer is red, Milner is yellow and Salborne is blue,” said Mostert.
Among other events, athletes took part in the 80m hurdles, 100m sprint and long jump.
Fun, stamina and war-cries were the order of the day for all those present.
