Children have a ball while learning

Daeraad Pre-Primary has had an action packed few days and now gets ready for its big fête.

The children from Daeraad Pre-Primary have enjoyed a wonderful week full of memorable moments.

This year the school is celebrating its 41st birthday and has 225 children enrolled, from the ages of three months to Grade R.

On Wednesday, Sgt Styles Maome, from the Primrose SAPS social crime prevention unit and the station’s mascot visited the children to teach them about the valuable work the police are doing in the community.

The theme for the week was “Our protectors” and “Our country South Africa”.

Thursday saw the children celebrating a typical South African day and enjoying games, braaied boerewors and eating milk tart.

The fun week was concluded on Friday, with a fund-raising project, a mini-walk.

All the different groups participated, with activities appropriate for each age group.

Parents also joined in the fun and encouraged their children.

Lots of laughter, exercise and ice–cream were part of this sunny morning.

On May 7 Daeraad’s annual fête will be held.

The community is invited to attend from 9am to 2pm, at the school grounds in Venus Street, Fishers’ Hill.

Lots of delicious food, pancakes, children’s games, jumping castles, a ghost house, tombola and more will be available to entertain big and small.

Flea market tables are also available for hire and there is sure to be a wonderful array of goodies on sale.

If anyone is interested in hiring a table or you need more information contact the office on 011 828-5541 between 7.30am and 3pm.
