Mandela Cup quarter-finals go well

Eight u-15 teams that are part of the Vosloorus Local Football Association (VFLA) excelled during the Mandela Cup quarter-finals that were played at Vosloorus Ground D on July 6.

Seven teams from Vosloorus – Golden Boys FC from Mailula, FC Rangers from Extension 28, Lucky Birds FC from Eastfield, Mighty Boys from Extension 28, Alaska FC from Extention 25, Volcano FC from Sunrise, Vosloorus Citizens from Extention 28 – and Newcastle United from Villa Liza took part in this year’s prestigious tournament.

The first game was between Golden Boys FC and FC Rangers.

The team from Mailula won convincingly by four goals to zero.

That game was followed by a game between Newcastle United and Vosloorus Citizens.

The Citizens won the game by three goals to two.

The other results are as follow:

Mighty Boys FC lost 2-0 to Lucky Birds FC.

Alaska FC won their last game 3-0 against Volkano FC.

Lindokuhle Nkabinde, VLFA secretory, said everything went according to plan.

“I am so happy about the way the teams played today. I am convinced that the semi-finals will be more competitive, even better than the quarter-finals,” said Nkabinde.

The semi-finals will take place on July 12. The Citizens will take on Luck Birds FC while Volcano will play against Alaska FC.

The finals will take place on July 22.

All the games will be played at Vosloorus Ground C and D.
