Karate leaders invited to conference

United Knockdown Organization of South Africa (UKOSA) invites all full-contact leaders (including senseis and shihans) under Martial Arts South Africa (MASA) to a conference at the Johannesburg Stadium on July 28.

UKOSA is the umbrella body of all the full-contact styles in South Africa under MASA and is recognised by Sascoc.

Shihan Peter ‘Poison’ Thage, the president of MASA, said full-contact-style leaders from all over the province are invited to this prestigious conference.

“The conference will take place at Johannesburg Stadium Gauteng Sport Council Offices. Among other things on the agenda is the World Tournament in Japan, which will take place from March 16 to 18 next year,” said Thage.

He added that a women’s tournament, set to take place at Thokoza Auditorium (Alberton) on August 11 and featuring full-contact sports and kickboxing, will also be discussed.

“There will be plenty to discuss on full contact, including the latest developments and transformation in the style. We will select a squad to represent our organisation in Japan. I would like to plead with all karatekas to come in their numbers,” Thage said.
