Good deeds on Mandela Day

Germiston SAPS goes all out on Mandela day.

The Germiston SAPS Women’s Network spent their 67 minutes on Mandela Day at the Bertha Gxowa Hospital.

They visited the children’s ward and spent some time playing and interacting with the patients.

The women then presented the ward sister on duty with a certificate to acknowledge all the hard work the sisters do at the hospital.

Germiston SAPS cluster commander Brig Phumla Mdlankoma spent her 67 minutes on Mandela Day preparing food for underprivileged children.

She was at the Rose of Hope Daycare Centre, in the Good Hope informal settlement, in Germiston.

WO André de Jager, communications officer for the Germiston SAPS, said Mdlankoma had arranged food for the children to eat, as some of them would not have another meal for the whole day.

A community clean-up initiative was held at the Good Hope informal settlement, in Germiston, on Mandela Day.

The Germiston SAPS officers spent their 67 minutes cleaning up the area.

WO André de Jager, communications officer for the police, said the refuse bags, gloves and masks that were used by the officers were all sponsored by the metro.

“The community thanked the police for their efforts and for their care,” added de Jager.
