Local company helps Woodmere residents

Load a Bakkie cleaned up in Woodmere in celebration of Mandela Day.

The residents of Woodmere had a surprise on Mandela Day – some of the mess they hate so much was cleared up (GCN, July 12).

Thanks to Load a Bakkie, a small to medium transport company operating in the area, some of the mess is a thing of the past.

The company wanted to assist the residents of Woodmere, who have had to deal with the growing eyesore and potential health and safety hazard on the corner of Coral and Laurel streets, as part of their 67 minutes on Mandela Day.

In the two and a half hours the company committed to this project they managed to clear one side of the rubble.

The skip that was supplied by the metro’s waste management department was filled to capacity and more.

The pavement on the one side was levelled and tidied up as best as possible, as the ”mountain” that had formed over time was really compact, containing a mixture of general refuse, bricks, glass, grass, sand, cement and metal.
