Child Welfare helped on Mandela Day
Germiston Child Welfare held a successful Mandela Day project.
The Germiston Child and Family Welfare Society held a successful Mandela Day project, last Thursday.
The management, staff and the children of Germiston Child Welfare thank everyone who contributed to making the children smile.
The society had an amazing day and managed to get a lot of needed jobs completed.
The completed jobs were:
- The pigeon problem was solved by a company which came and bird trapped the two offices and cleaned all the bird droppings.
This has made a very big difference already, as the birds make a huge noise and mess.
- The society managed to clean and empty out its old storerooms and got rid of a few bakkie loads of rubbish.
- A donation of soil and compost was received and this enabled the society to redo the whole garden, to get rid of unnecessary beds and to replant plants to make the entrance look better.
- A donation of paint was received and the whole outside fence, all the railings and the windowsills were repainted.
- A massive clean-up project on the outside of the offices and all the windows took place.
- A trainer also donated mediation training for the social workers.
These added skills will benefit the association, as well as the families it serves.
- Cash donations were received and this money was used to employ some unemployed youths to assist with the above projects where Child Welfare was short of volunteers.
- A handyman very kindly offered to help fix the outside toilets and help with some of the odd jobs needed around the office.
