The Primrose police arrested a man and woman, aged 20 and 21, in connection with a robbery in Warfield Street, in Primrose, recently.
“A complainant alleged that he was walking along Warfield Street with his friend, when a charcoal coloured Corsa Lite stopped near them,” said Const Styles Maome, communications officer for the Primrose police.
“There were a coloured man and a white woman inside the car.”
The man apparently approached the complainant and his friend with a black knife and demanded their cellphones.
“They handed over the cellphones, worth R5 000, to the man, who got back into the car and drove off,” said Maome.
“The incident was reported to the police, who spotted the car in the Primrose area and found one cellphone.
“The other cellphone had been sold at a pawn shop in Jet Park, in Boksburg.
“We would like members of the community who can identify the man and woman as culprits of other robberies to come forward.”
They have appeared in the Germiston Magistrates Court and they have been remanded in custody.
