A local resident, Charmaine Magney, has informed the GCN about the rise in the number f house robberies in Hazel Park and Hazeldene, recently.
She wants to warn all residents in that area to be alert.
“We have had four housebreakings on our street in four weeks,” said Charmaine.
“Our gate was lifted off the rail and people need to be aware.”
Capt George Raphulu, Germiston SAPS head of communications, said housebreakings have been occurring everywhere and that criminals are not specifically targeting Hazel Park and Hazeldene.
“All crimes need to be reported to the Germiston SAPS, so that we can record where they are happening and to give the police officers direction as to where the problematic sectors that need attention are,” he said.
“Complainants need to come forward and open a case of housebreaking.”
