Electricity outages frustrate residents

Power was finally restored to Germiston suburbs.

Residents in a large number of areas in Germiston experienced power outages last week.

The GCN was inundated with queries after the power went out in various suburbs on Thursday evening.

The metro told the GCN that technicians worked around the clock to locate and repair three cable faults that left various suburbs in Germiston without power.

Elsburg, Delville, Parkhill Gardens, Tedstoneville, Germiston South, parts of Primrose, Albemarle and the Castleview areas were affected.

Power was finally restored to all affected areas by Sunday morning.

Furthermore, in a separate but related incident the team had to replace a transformer in the Solheim area on Friday morning.

This was after a cable fault affecting Sun and Polaris streets led to the transformer failing on Thursday evening.

The metro apologised for the inconvenience and assured affected consumers that work would continue until services are restored.
