Man found with unlicensed firearm

Primrose police discover unlicensed firearm.

A man was recently arrested by the Primrose police for possession of an unlicensed firearm and live ammunition.

The 28-year-old suspect was arrested during a patrol along Lower Main Reef Road.

Officers noticed two men appear out of a bushy area and stopped to question and search them.

They then discovered that one of the men had a .38 special revolver, with its serial number filed off, and five rounds of live ammunition.

The officers asked to see the licence for the firearm, which the man was unable to provide.

He was arrested and taken to the Primrose Police Station.

The suspect appeared in the Germiston Magistrates Court, where the case was postponed for a bail application.

“The Primrose Police Station’s management complimented the officers on their good work; arrests like these will send a message to others who possess unlicensed firearms,” said Const Styles Maome, communications officer for the Primrose police.
