The Primrose police were kept busy between December 25 and January 6, with the arrest of five men.
The five, who were arrested in separate incidents, are all charged with assault with intent to cause grievous bodily harm.
In one incident, a man reported to officers that he had just parked his car on Shamrock Road when two men approached him and demanded his wallet.
When he refused, they assaulted him.
The victim sustained serious injuries during the attack.
Officers were able to trace the two men and they were arrested and taken to the Primrose Police Station.
One of the five men was arrested in the Makause informal settlement, after officers received a report from a man who explained he had been at home, asleep,when he was awakened by a noise.
When he opened his eyes he saw a man, he recognised, standing over him with a knife.
The man claimed the suspect stabbed him in the upper body before fleeing.
All five men will appear in the Germiston Magistrates Court, soon.
