The Primrose police recently arrested a man accused of damaging the Limpopo Spaar in the Marathon informal settlement.
The arrest was made after the shop owner came into the Primrose Police Station to report the incident.
He told officers he was asleep when he heard a noise.
He went outside to investigate and discovered a man breaking through the roof of his shop.
When the man saw the shop owner he ran away.
Upon further inspection nothing appeared to be missing from the shop, only the roof had been damaged.
Officers were able to track down the accused and he was arrested.
He later appeared in the Germiston Magistrates Court, where his case was postponed for trial.
