The Primrose police recently arrested a man believed to be responsible for a murder that took place in the Marathon informal settlement.
The arrest was made when officers received a report of a shooting in the settlement.
Officers rushed to the scene and, upon their arrival, they found a man on the ground with multiple gunshot wounds to his chest.
The officers began to process the scene and found a sports shoe, believed to be the murderer’s, lying next to the victim.
The officers’ initial investigation revealed that the victim might have been shot by a family member and, after they had followed several leads, the victim’s nephew was arrested for the murder.
The suspect will appear in the Germiston Magistrates Court soon.
