Primrose Police arrested five “ladies of the night”, aged between 22 and 36, in Beaconsfield Street, during operations that took place on Friday and Saturday.
Three women were arrested on Friday night, and two on Saturday night.
“Our police, together with the Metro Police, mounted operations and observed these women exposing themselves in an indecent manner to passing motorists,” said the communication officer for the Primrose SAPS, Sgt Styles Maome.
“We will carry on with such operations until our area is free of prostitutes.”
Some of the women paid admission of guilt fines, while others appeared in the Germiston Magistrates Court, where they were warned.
