SPCA reaches out to the community — Warning some images are not for sensitive readers
The staff from the Germiston SPCA are doing outreach projects into the informal settlements.
The Germiston SPCA recently embarked on an outreach project to indigent community members and their pets.
They visited the people in the Good Hope and Transnet Diesel Depot informal settlements.
SPCA staff members approached the community and introduced the society to them.
The outreach project is aimed at creating awareness about caring for animals and how the SPCA can assist.
The society also donated much needed blankets, dog food and cat food to the informal settlement pets.
Educational pamphlets were handed out, which showed people how to take care of their domestic pets (chickens, dogs and cats).
The SPCA did house-to-house visits, educating people about their pets.
Some of the animals will be sterilised, vaccinated and dewormed free of charge at the Germiston SPCA, with the help of veterinarians in the area.
The SPCA staff thank all the veterinary hospitals who are assisting them.
As Mandela Day is drawing closer, the society has decided to make a difference in the lives of all animals and pet owners who are in dire need of assistance.
At least 40 shacks were visited by the SPCA as part of this outreach project.
You can help with these projects by donating collars, leads, dog/cat bowls, blankets and pet beds.
