The GCN has received unconfirmed reports, this morning (July 19), of two men being arrested for hijacking at the Stone Arch Estate in Castleview, Germiston.
It is alleged that the two men, who are also believed to have been involved in a housebreaking, stole a Volkswagen Golf but were tracked through the Golf’s on board tracking system.
The men then abandoned the Golf and Stole a Volkswagen Polo.
It is believed that the men then traveled to the Stone Arch, where they were tracked down by the Germiston SAPS.
Onlookers at the scene say that shots were fired at around 7.30am this morning, and a police helicopter could be seen over head.
Some also claim they saw the two men attempting abandon the Polo outside of the Estate and try to run into the Estate.
One was apprehended outside, while the second manage to get into the Estate.
It was there officers were able to catch and arrest him.
Unconfirmed reports state that when officers searched the house where the men were alleged to have been staying, they found a number of other vehicles.
The GCN is currently trying to reach the Germiston SAPS for confirmation of the incident.
