Huge crowd of Numsa strikers protest outside court

Striking Numsa workers took to the streets of Germiston and protested outside the Germiston Magistrates Court.

A large crowd of Numsa members protested outside the Germiston Magistrates Court on Wednesday.

Spokesman for the Germiston SAPS WO André de Jager told the GCN they were protesting as 27 Numsa members were appearing in court on various charges.

The street in front of the court was closed to traffic as the 500-strong crowd sang songs and listened to a speaker.

The Germiston police then told the strikers they needed to move to another location and they marched through the streets of the CBD to a park on Linton Jones Street.

They are currently congregated there, listening to a speaker.

The Germiston SAPS are monitoring them closely.
