High school hosts festival for all to enjoy

Calling the community to support fun day festival.

Afrikaanse Hoërskool Germiston will hold a festival on August 2, so make sure you get there for a fun day out for the whole family.

The festival will take place on the sports fields at the school, from 8am to 3pm.

Afrikaanse Hoërskool is located on the corner of Webber and Sinclair roads, in Lambton.

Activities will accommodate children from nursery school age up to senior citizens, so there will be something for everyone to do.

Dinky Dolly Nursery School will keep the youngsters occupied with a programme of events, including bouncing balls, pushing of wheels, sack races, three-legged races, cutting ribbons, running with water in cups, Miss Butterfly and Mr Muscle competitions and more.

Prizes will be given to all participants.

There will also be displays of drum majorettes, gymnastics, rugby and dances by the Dinky Dolly children.

Wits Rifles (SANDF) will have an exhibition of weapons and vehicles, which will serve as a career opportunity event for pupils, and all high school pupils from the community are invited to attend.

A flea market with stalls, various food stalls, a car boot sale, tea garden, jumble sale, face-painting, belly dancing, volkspele, jumping castles, a dog demonstration, a talent competition, a house of horrors (spookhuis), and displays of motorcycles and vintage cars will also entertain visitors.

A tombola table, different games and fun tables can be visited to test your skills.

High school pupils can take part in a soccer competition, a fitness and strength competition (hosted by Jaco Oosthuizen of Gym Physique) and a tug-o’-war led by provincial officials.

Ex-scholars will be playing rugby and the local CPF will also be present.

Everybody is welcome to come and take part and support the fun day at the school, to help to make it a community get-together.

There will be a nominal entrance fee for parking on the grounds or a small entrance fee for adults will be charged.
