The Germiston City News recently received calls from disgruntled residents of Dinwiddie, reporting that they had been without water for most of the day.
The residents wanted to know what was happening as calls to the metro yielded no results.
The GCN asked the metro for the reason for the outage and received the following statement from metro spokesman Themba Gadebe: “We had to fix a leaking fire hydrant.
“The maintenance team had to close the water supply in to allow for the repairs.
“If a situation such as this (leaking fire hydrant) arises, the department has to interrupt the water supply to avoid water losses.”
