Security guard leads police to suspect

Business’ wages stolen.

On Saturday, August 30, members of the Primrose police arrested a 24-year-old man on charges of theft, after a complaint was laid with the police.

The complainant explained to officers that she was working on her employees’ wages in her office, when she found she had to leave the area.

“She left the bag containing the money on her desk, thinking it would be safe, as she locked her office door and the security gate,” said Sgt Styles Maome, communications officer for the Primrose police.

After several hours she returned to her office and found that the security gate and door, which she had locked, were open.

Upon further inspection of her office she realised that the bag containing money was missing.

“There was no forced entry and she could see that the suspect used spare keys,” added Maome.

“The complainant said she believed the security guards were the only other people to have keys to her office, so she asked the security guard what had happened and he referred her to the accused.”

During questioning the accused confessed that he had taken the money.

The police were called to the scene and the suspect was arrested.
