Three men, between the ages of 24 and 28, were arrested by the Primrose police for the possession of stolen goods.
The three were apprehended in First Street, Wannenburg, last Wednesday, following an anonymous tip-off from a community member, who explained that they had been seen stealing iron, used as fencing at a local tennis court, on several occasions.
Officers travelled to the address given, where they caught the three men in the process of removing the stolen iron from the area.
The suspects were arrested and taken to the Primrose Police Station, where they were formally charged.
“As much as we understand the issue of unemployment, it does not give people permission to steal state property,” said communications officer for the Primrose police Sgt Styles Maome.
“We will keep arresting all law-breakers and bringing them to book.
”As police, we salute the member of the community who supplied the information that led to their arrest.”
The suspects will appear in the Germiston Magistrates Court soon.
