Safety summit focuses on fighting crime in the province

Government host safety summit.

Today (Thursday) the provincial government will convene a Safety Indaba in a bid to renew its commitment to fight crime in the province.

The summit will afford all law enforcement agencies, municipalities, community policing forums and social cluster departments an opportunity to discuss their pressing issues with Premier David Makhura.

The main topic of discussion for all responsible principals within the cluster will remain how best to deal with the issue of crime in Gauteng.

The social cluster is constituted by the departments of community safety, health, education, social development, human settlements, and sport, art, culture and recreation.

Makhura will deliver the keynote address, which will be followed by a media briefing on the outcome of the summit.

Residents were invited to get involved by making submissions on how to create a safer Gauteng.

Suggestions can still be submitted via the department of community safety’s website atwww.gautsafety.gpg.gov.za.
